Itajime Shibori — Indigo Dyeing & Textile Sculptures

Developed at the JAD MakerLab for Objets en devenir, a collective exhibition presented during Paris Design Week 2026, IKI explores the Japanese technique of itajime shibori through indigo dyeing, geometric pattern-making and contemporary textile construction.

Using folding and compression to create resist-dyed patterns, the textiles are stretched over laser-cut wooden structures inspired by traditional embroidery hoops, bringing together ancestral craftsmanship and digital fabrication.

Extending this exploration, the HALO collection comprises eleven unique textile and sculpted wood pieces, conceived as small, fan-inspired artworks. Each composition reveals variations in indigo colour, geometric rhythm and material expression.

Presented at AVRIL, Paris, as part of the JAD exhibition Objets en devenir, curated by Patrice Chazottes.
