TENKA
Sculptural Lighting — Natural Indigo & Shibori SilkDeveloped from the Yokaï lantern, created in 2024 for the Mobilier National, Tenka extends Tony Jouanneau’s exploration of botanical colour into the realm of sculptural lighting.
Its name, Tenka (天下), meaning “all under heaven,” evokes both the visible universe and the symbolic power of light to illuminate and reveal.
Wrapped in naturally indigo-dyed silk, its elliptical structure reveals a subtle gradient shifting from deep blue to luminous white. At its centre, an opening unveils a delicate marbled Shibori pattern.
Conceived as a contemplative object, Tenka invites us to look upwards and reflect on the relationship between light, sky and earth, where natural colours become a living expression of the elements.
